Religious, Non-Denominational, Civil Weddings

What type of ceremony is the "perfect wedding ceremony"?  One aspect that a couple should determine early on is if the ceremony is going to be religious or not.

There are different ways to include religion in a ceremony:

1.  Feature one religion and include relgious words, phrases, quote, verses, songs in all parts of the ceremony.

2.  Include some religious context, such as referring to God when talking about marriage, including one verse or prayer, or having someone read from a religious text.

3.  Create a "non-denominational" ceremony that has a Christian feel to it, but is not specifically one denomination.

4.  Have a spiritual sense throughout, but no reference to any one religion.

5.  Mix traditions, rituals, readings from more than one religion.  Sometimes these are called "mixed-religious" weddings.  Jump over a broom, have a Chinese tea ceremony, include wine/bread communion, have sponsors cover couple with a veil, stomp on a glass...we have officiated many ceremonies with a variety of tranditions.

6.  Or...create a "civil" ceremony, aka "non-religious" that has no reference to any religion.

Once you as a couple have determined the best approach, you can let your officiant know what you want.  This helps us in working with you to create the perfect ceremony words.  Both Rev. Jennifer and Rick Tan are happy to work with all couples on any type of ceremony.  We will wear religious garb, sash, jewlery and/or help you with religious rituals, such as lasso, coins, candles, readings, crowns, and prayers upon request.  This is your wedding, and it is our job to support you in creating a ceremony that is about you as a couple, and your future life together!
